turns and changes of direction

5th April, 2-5pm

The use of the code of turning and its changes of direction.

Pablo Pugliese has been dancing Argentine tango since the age of nine. His first teachers were his parents Esther and Mingo, who trained many of the new generation of professional tango dancers.

His ongoing studies in Buenos Aires and beyond have included ballet and modern dance as well as tango. A variety of scholarships has taken him to the prestigious Alvin Ailey School in New York, to Jacob’s Pillow, America’s leading dance festival, and elsewhere, and he has been the recipient of numerous awards He has gone on to perform and teach master classes throughout the USA, as well as cities including Tokyo, Paris, Rio de Janeiro, Madrid, Berlin and London; while his dancing and choreography for international shows have led him to collaborate with many of tango’s leading musicians, composers, directors and dancers. He currently lives in New York, where he is a member of the tango teaching staff at Dance Manhattan.

The Village Voice has described him as “an arresting dancer, capable of speed, liquidity and fire. At his best, he lets the dance consume every part of his body, leaving nothing inert.”

He is currently based in New York City as part of the tango teaching staff at the Dance Manhattan Studio, as well as dancing and working on new projects with argentine tango dancer Noel Strazza.
